Course Overview: Hospitalists frequently serve as the first line and sole providers for inpatients with acute neurologic conditions. Hospitalists need to feel adequately prepared to care for the spectrum of neurologic disease that commonly presents to emergency departments and hospitals. Utilizing an evidence-based approach, this course will actively engage participants in the pertinent and subtle elements of the neurologic examination, and help them utilize and interpret relevant diagnostic studies and state of the art management techniques for the care of neurologic conditions encountered in the hospital on a daily basis. Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:
- Perform a high yield neurological examination.
- Explain the diagnosis and treatment of stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, anoxic encephalopathy, and seizures.
